Rita Valettini was born in Massa Carrara, region Tuscany, Italy. She worked as trained nurse from 1980 and she got married in 1981. In the first years of marriage, rejoiced by two children's birth, she looks for an hobby to render her creativity. After crocheting, sewing, kniting and embroidering, she discovers the cross stitch and it's love at first sight. Enthusiastic, she stitches intricated patterns from the beginning and refines her processing technique to stitch in the best possible way. Then she moves from the town to the country, leaves her hospital job to stay with her childrens, now teenagers, and to work with the husband, doctor of medicine.
Having now more freetime and, stimulated from the luxuriant nature of the country around her, she needs to improve her embroidery activity. So, she starts to design herself the cross stitch charts and, taking lessons from a practitioner painter, she improves the technical quality of the pencil drawings constituent the base of her projects. In this way she creates the works exposed in this pages, made initially in a complete manual fashion, and then with the aid of computer. But the base are always the pencil drawings made by herself, painting all that strikes her fantasy. Especially, the study of human body anatomy is the most important source for her inspiration.
